Collectors buying gold from the United States Mint often turn to the official gold bullion series of the United States of America: the Gold Eagle. Now, 2021-W 1/2 oz Proof Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

  • 35th anniversary for Proof Gold American Eagles!
  • Consists of One-Half Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • Issued a face value of $25 (USD) by the United States.
  • The obverse features Lady Liberty.
  • On the reverse is a bald eagle design.
  • Bears a “W” mint mark from the West Point Mint.

In 1986, the United States Mint introduced the Gold American Eagles with a BU version available in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. In 1986, a 1 oz Proof coin was also offered. In 1987, a 1/2 oz Proof coin was introduced alongside the 1 oz gold coin. In 1988, the final two weights were offered in the Proof Gold Eagle Series.

Fast forward to 2006, and the United States Mint celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Gold American Eagle Series with the introduction of a Burnished coin. This coin remains available only in 1 oz gold. In 2021, the US Mint plans to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the collection with a new reverse design element for the first time in the coin’s history. Those designs, however, are not ready for production and the 2021 Proof Gold Eagles will begin production with the original design combinations.

The obverse side of 2021-W 1/2 oz Proof Gold American Eagles comes with a vision of Lady Liberty. This image of Liberty was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and was designed for the $20 Gold Double Eagle. The image shows Liberty in front-facing relief as she walks with a torch in her right hand to guide the way and an olive branch of peace in her left hand.

On the reverse field of 2021-W Proof Gold Eagles is a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. The design features a female eagle with its young hatchling in the nest as a male eagle flies overhead. This image has been exclusive to the Gold Eagle Series since 1986 when it was developed by Miley Busiek.

These 2021-W 1/2 oz Proof Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online with protective capsules and a commemorative display from the United States Mint. You will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint with your purchase.
