The Proof Gold Eagle from the United States Mint has been available since 1986. The coins were introduced between 1986 and 1988 with the image of Lady Liberty from the $20 Gold Double Eagle on the obverse and an exclusive design on the reverse. That design has now been replaced with an all-new design starting in mid-2021 with the Type 2 release. Today, 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins are available to you online at Silver.com in near-perfect condition.

The United States Mint issued all four weights in the Gold Eagle Series at once in 1986. However, the Proof Gold Eagles were issued in stages from 1986 to 1988. The 1 oz coin was issued first in 1986, followed by the 1/2 oz gold coin in 1987. In 1988, the series was completed with the release of this 1/4 oz gold coin and the 1/10 oz gold coin.

All of the 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins in this listing are certified specimens with a near-perfect grade. Coins in PF69 condition have full, original mint luster and come with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Examples of these flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines. These flaws must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coins. UCAM coins are proof specimens with strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear fields.

On the obverse of 2021-W Proof Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins is a depiction of Liberty. This effigy was designed in 1907 and features Liberty’s full-length figure as she walks toward the viewer. The front-facing relief depicts Liberty carrying an olive branch in her left hand and a torch in her right hand. The field also includes the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays, and a ring of 50 stars.

The reverse of the 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins bears the all-new design. Created by Jennie Norris, this image shows the bald eagle head in left-profile relief with great detail in its plumage.
