Burnished Silver American Eagles offer another option to collectors who covet the Silver Eagle coin designs. The Burnished Silver Eagle debuted in 2006 when the US Mint celebrated the 20th anniversary of the collection. The Burnished Silver Eagles were available from 2006 to 2008, halted in 2009 and 2010 amidst increased demand for BU versions of the American Eagles, and resumed in 2011. Since 2011, the Burnished Silver Eagle has been in constant annual production.
All of these 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Silver American Eagles are available to you with beautiful, matte visuals. The coins are packaged inside protective capsules with a blue presentation box. The lid of the box has the US Mint logo with the name of the coin release. Included with your purchase is a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint.
On the obverse face of 2021-W Burnished Silver American Eagles is the iconic Walking Liberty design. The image of Walking Liberty is captured in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. She reaches out for the brightness of a new day with her right hand and carries the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. The branches of oak and laurel represent the civic and military achievements of the United States. To bring the modern design closer to the historic 1916 work of art by Weinman, his “AW” initials are now featured as a signature mark on this side of the coins.
The reverse side of 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagles includes the new image of an American bald eagle in flight. In this design from Emily Damstra, the Type 2 visual showcases an American bald eagle flexing its wings as its talons clutch an oak branch. This design debuted in mid-2021, with the Burnished Silver Eagles being the only version of the coin issued in 2021 not to feature the original Type 1 imagery.
