In 2021, the United States Mint took the Gold Eagle Series in a new direction with the release of a new design element in honor of the 35th anniversary of the collection. The new design element features only on the reverse side, replacing Miley Busiek’s original design from 1986. However, before the mint retired the design, it gave the classic reverse one last strike through the first half of 2021. Now, 2021-W 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com in perfect condition.

Proof Gold Eagles from the United States Mint debuted in 1986 alongside the BU Gold Eagles, but only these 1 oz gold coins were available that year. In 1987, the 1/2 oz coin was introduced, followed in 1988 by the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins. The coins have been issued every year since, with the exception of 2009.

In 2021, the United States Mint celebrated the 35th anniversary of the series with two releases of Proof Gold Eagles from the West Point Mint. From January to June, the US Mint issued Proof Gold Eagles for the final time with the original design on the reverse from Miley Busiek. In July 2021, the US Mint switched to the new reverse design from Jennie Norris.

The obverse of 2021-W 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagles features a portrait of Liberty. This full-length figure in front-facing relief shows Liberty striding forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.

On the reverse of 2021-W Proof Gold Eagles is an image of the American bald eagle family unit. Designed exclusively for this series in 1986 by Miley Busiek, it depicts a female eagle and hatchling in the nest, with a male eagle soaring overhead.

These 2021-W 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagles are available to purchase in perfect condition. PF70 coins showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws. Ultra-cameo coins have strong, frosted design elements and deeply-mirrored, clear fields. The Early Release label is for coins received for grading within 30 days of release from the mint.
