When the United States Mint introduced the Gold American Eagles in 1986, the BU versions of the coin came with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold options. In 1986, a 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle was released. In 1987, a 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle debuted. In 1988, the Proof Gold Eagle Series was finally complete with the release of 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins.

Since 1986, the US Mint has featured the same design elements on the obverse and reverse. The obverse features a historic US coin design that debuted in 1907 on the $20 Gold Double Eagle, while the reverse bears an image of American bald eagles created exclusively for this series in 1986. For the 35th anniversary of the series, a new design is coming to the reverse for the first time ever. However, those new designs are not in production yet and are likely to result in the US Mint issuing two different versions of the 2021 Proof Gold Eagle!

The obverse side of 2021-W 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagles includes the historic Lady Liberty design. In this work of art, Liberty walks toward the viewer with her hair and robe flowing freely in the breeze. She holds up a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.

On the reverse field of the 2021 Proof Gold Eagle is a depiction of American bald eagles. In this design, a male eagle flies above the nest with a branch in its talons as a female guards over a young hatchling in the nest.

These 2021-W 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagles are available to you with protective capsules. The coin and its capsule are housed inside of a presentation box, with all pieces shipped together inside of a US Mint shipper. The coins each come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
