The Silver Somalia Elephant Series is one of the world’s most diverse collections of silver for sale. Introduced in 1999 as the Silver Zambia Elephant, the nation of issue was changed in 2004 from Zambia to Somalia. The Bavarian State Mint remains the mint of origin for the coins in this series. One of the special releases in this series each year is the issuance of Coincards with birthday themes to mark the birth of baby boys and baby girls. Today, 2022 1/10 oz Silver Somalia Elephants in Baby Girl coin cards are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you inside Baby Girl-themed cards!
  • 19th year of issue in the Silver Somalia Elephant Series!
  • Consists of One-Tenth Troy ounce of .9999 fine silver in BU condition.
  • The face value is 10 Somali Shillings.
  • On the obverse is the Somali coat of arms.
  • The reverse features an African bush elephant family.

The change from this series being known as the Silver Zambia Elephant to the Silver Somalia Elephant was the first of many big changes that would come throughout the history of this series. In 2016, the silver purity of the coins in the collection was bumped up from .999 to .9999 fineness. In 2017, the Bavarian State Mint introduced a range of new silver weights beyond the existing 1 oz and 1 Kilogram silver coins. Among them was this 1/10 oz silver coin.

All of the 2022 1/10 oz Silver Somalia Elephants available here come to you with individual presentation packaging. Perfect to gift to new parents, these 1/10 oz silver coins are in a capsule space at the center of a Coincard with a Baby Girl design theme. The field of the card includes a green background with a purple cartoon elephant in the design element.

On the obverse of 2022 Silver Somalia Elephants is the Somali coat of arms. A static design that has not changed since 2004, this image features a shield with crowned towers at the top and horizontal lines in the background field. There is a single star at the center of the shield and leopards support it from either side.

The reverse face of the 2022 1/10 oz Silver Elephant features the unique design for the 2022 release. Here, you will notice an adult elephant walking along the savanna with its young calf walking by its side. The field includes a sun overhead, a small flock of birds, and trees on the horizon.
