The Royal Australian Mint offers its own selection of lunar coins for sale each year. Like other collections, the Royal Australian Mint’s Lunar Series offers a design with each date that features the animal from Chinese mythology that is associated with that date mark. For 2022, it is the Year of the Tiger.

Tigers are highly regarded animals in Chinese culture and folklore. The largest living species of cat in the world today, the tiger is viewed as the king of all beasts in Chinese society. As a symbol on the Zodiac, the tiger represents strength, the ability to exorcise evil spirits, and bravery.

The obverse of 2022 1/2 oz Silver RAM Rectangular Year of the Tiger Coins features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the sixth-generation portrait of the Queen to feature on Australian coins and was designed for the Royal Mint of England in 2015 by Jody Clark. The design shows the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head.

On the reverse side of 2022 Silver RAM Rectangular Year of the Tigers is an image of a prowling tiger. The tiger is shown amidst a rocky setting with foliage surrounding the design. The obverse side of the coin has the same frame design element.

These 2022 1/2 oz Silver Royal Australian Mint Rectangular Year of the Tigers are available with beautiful packaging from the mint. The coins are individually encapsulated in custom capsules and come with a red presentation box. A Certificate of Authenticity is available with each coin.
