One of the most famous strongholds of evil in fantasy fiction is Mount Doom in The Lord of the Rings. A primeval source of power for the dread magic of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fires of Mount Doom made possible the forging of the One Ring of Power, an object meant to bend the world to the will of evil. Inspired by Stromboli Island, a real-life stratovolcano off the coast of Sicily known as one of the world’s most active hotspots, its legacy is celebrated by the New Zealand Mint with the 2022 3 oz Silver Niue Lord of the Rings Mount Doom Coin.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes packed in velvet in a secure acrylic capsule inside a themed display case!
  • Issued in 2022!
  • Limited mintage of just 1,000 coins worldwide!
  • Consists of Three Troy ounces of .999 fine silver.
  • Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Face value of $10 (NZD) as legal tender of Niue.
  • Obverse side features an effigy of the late Elizabeth II.
  • Reverse side features a detailed engraving of Mount Doom.

The 2022 Silver Niue Lord of the Rings Mount Doom Coin commemorates an unforgettably sinister locale in fantasy fiction with detailed engravings accentuated by a matte antique finish. It comes nestled in velvet and protected by an acrylic capsule inside a themed display case. Each coin’s Certificate of Authenticity specifies its unique number in this limited mintage.

Just as a real-life volcano inspired the fictional Mount Doom, producing the story for the big screen made it necessary to “cast” a volcano in our world that could match its threatening fantasy counterpart. In the classic film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson, that role is played by Mount Ngauruhoe, whose oppressive and threatening atmosphere came to define the fantastic home of Dark Lord Sauron for a generation of fans. The circle of art imitating life and life being used to imitate art comes back around with the latest Mount Doom collectible.

Mount Doom as played by Mount Ngauruhoe in the films is captured in detailed engraved artwork on the reverse side of this coin, along with a blasted countryside around it. Inscriptions at the rim verify the copyright and trademark of New Line, along with confirmation of the coin’s weight and purity.

The late Queen Elizabeth II dominates the obverse side in an official effigy that verifies this coin as legal tender. She is accompanied by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “NIUE,” “TEN DOLLARS” and “2022.”

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
