Secure MintID Bullion at Silver.com
One of the increasing concerns of silver buyers is the possibility of counterfeit silver bullion. While authorized dealers work directly with mints to procure legitimate bullion, sovereign and private mints are also introducing security elements to the design and packaging of bullion products. MintID has taken security measures further than any other bullion brand with NFC microchips applied directly on silver bullion products that enable you to instantly authenticate your bullion with a powerful smartphone app. Below, you can learn more about the new MintID products available to invest in at Silver.com.
MintID partners only with ISO:9001, highly-rated mint facilities to produce silver bullion products and adhere a secure NFC microchip directly to the product. The blue microchip is instantly visible on both the silver rounds and silver bars from MintID. Each of the microchips offers a unique digital serial number attached only to that specific product. More importantly, the chips cannot be cloned or copied, so there is no way of counterfeiting the chips. The NFC microchips have AES-128 bit encryption, the same level approved by the US government for its encryption needs.
The microchips store a digital profile of each product in the cloud and the chip itself is also tamper-evident. If the chip has been tampered with in any way following production and application at the mint, the chip “dies.” When the chip dies, it returns a tampered result in the MintID app when you try to authenticate the product. This instantaneous authentication provides peace of mind for investors.
The MintID App
To instantly authenticate your MintID silver bullion, you can download the free MintID app. Available on iOS and Android devices, the MintID app offers you real-time authentication of bullion products, product images verifying your purchase, specifications for the individual round or bar, and a unique digital serial number for each individual piece. You can also learn about the buy-and-sell capabilities of your product through the app. To use the app to authenticate your purchase, you’ll need the NFC setting enabled on your smartphone. Once you launch the MintID app, you can go to the scan section and simply place your round or bar against the back of the smartphone and the MintID app does the rest.
1 oz Silver Buffalo Round
The 1 oz Silver Buffalo Round from MintID is a beautiful 1 oz silver option for investors. On the obverse of the 1 oz Buffalo Round in this series is the image of an American bison. The massive buffalo emerges from the center of the design field with its powerful horns reaching into the edge rocker. The buffalo is the largest land mammal in North America and once roamed freely in great numbers throughout the American Midwest and West. Today, it is largely confined to national parks in the American West with wood bison species roaming forested lands in Canada. Inscriptions on this face read “One Troy Ounce” and “.999+ Fine Silver.”
For the reverse design element, the 1 oz Silver Buffalo Round includes the blue NFC microchip as the primary visual element. It is adhered directly to the center of the reverse design field. Behind it, the MintID logo appears in a repeating pattern with “Tap to Scan” and “MintID.com” inscribed along the rocker on the edge of the design field.
1 oz Silver Buffalo Rounds are available at Silver.com for individual purchase. You can also purchase the Silver Buffalo Round in bulk options of secure rolls and secure boxes. The rolls include 20 silver rounds and the box holds a total of 25 rolls. You can learn more about that secure packaging below.
10 oz Silver MintID Bar
On the obverse side of the 10 oz Silver MintID Bar is the same powerful, massive American bison. This time you can see the entirety of the buffalo’s frame in the lower half of the design field. At the top of the bar, you will find the MintID brand logo with the weight, purity, and metal content inscribed below. Just beneath the image of the buffalo, the MintID website is inscribed on the bar. Both sides of the 10 oz Silver MintID Bar is a triple-line design border that is cut off at a 45-degree angle in the lower-left corner. In this corner, the weight of the bar is inscribed again as a simple “10.”
The reverse face of the 10 oz Silver MintID Bar includes the same blue NFC microchip you’ll find on the 1 oz Silver Buffalo Round. The background field has the continuously repeating MintID brand logo with the same border design from the other side.
Secure Packaging for MintID
Not only are the individual pieces of MintID silver bullion secure with the tamper-evident, encrypted microchips, but so too are the bulk packaging options you have in the MintID lineup. The 1 oz Silver Buffalo Round is available packaged in blue rolls that are secured with a crypto tamper-evident tag. You can use the MintID app to scan this tag and it will instantly authenticate the rounds inside of your roll. If that roll has been tampered with in any way, the app immediately lets you know. You can purchase a box of MintID Silver Buffalo Rounds that contains a total of 25 individual blue rolls with foam inserts to protect the rolls during shipping and storage.
