Please be aware that these particular Peace Dollars are offered as an “any year” product and as such the item you receive will be from either 1922-1926 OR 1934-1935. The coins are picked by our staff based on our current inventory selection and each has been assessed as being in VG (Very Good) condition.

These US Peace Silver Dollars are available in VG (Very Good) condition. These vintage coins mark a moment in the history of America, and were minted to commemorate the end of World War I. These unique coins are a definite credit to the portfolios of all collectors and a fine gift as well. Coins listed as VG condition show obvious signs of wear. The design is still identifiable but flat and lacking fine details.

The Peace Dollar was minted in two editions from 1921 to 1928 and from 1934 to 1935. The idea to create a coin commemorating a hard-won peace after the tragic and grizzly war that changed the fortunes of far too many lives is attributed to Frank Duffield. A proposal to the ANA by numismatist Farran Zerbe culminated in the approval of the idea, with the first Peace Dollar minted the following year.

The Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony de Francisci. The obverse side of the coin features an embossed profiled view of Lady Liberty. The word LIBERTY encircles her crown of light and she is flanked by the words IN GOD WE TRUST, with a V utilized for the U. The date of minting is below. Francisci’s wife Teresa was the model for this version of America’s Lady Liberty, which has since been utilized in many editions of coins.

On the reverse side of the coin, an eagle stands watchfully on a rock with the rays of the sun rising at its feet. The motto Peace is embedded on the rock, below the majestic eagle’s feet. The eagle’s head is encircled with the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and it is flanked with the words ONE DOLLAR.
