The Silver Canadian Maple Leaf coin from 2010 features a stunning representation of the leaf of the Canadian maple tree. Designed by RCM engravers in 1988, the great attention to detail can be seen upon first glance. The parts of the leaf, such as the veins, stem and blade are featured in a remarkable way. In addition to the leaf, the coin features the word “CANADA” at the top of the coin and “FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR” near the bottom of the coin. On either side of the maple leaf, you will also see the numbers “9999” which shows the purity of the silver.
The opposite side of the Canadian Maple Leaf coin features the profile of Queen Elizabeth II. This profile was designed by Susanna Blunt and first appeared in 2003. The detail of the profile is certainly a sign of great artistic ability. In fact, the details are so pronounced, it is very easy to see things like the Queen’s earrings and the pearl necklace she is wearing. Above the profile of the Queen the word “ELIZABETH II” is inscribed in the coin. Below her profile, the words “5 DOLLARS 2010” can be seen.
