Created by the Royal Canadian Mint, The 2014 Canadian silver maple leaf is nearly impossible to counterfeit. This makes the Canadian silver maple leaf quite special in the world of coins. Each individual coin contains one ounce of .9999 silver. This tube of 2014 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins includes 25 coins, securely wrapped in a tube of plastic which has been sealed at the RCM’s facilities. The 2014 Canadian Silver maple leaf coin makes a special stocking stuffer, birthday gift or anniversary gift, because of it’s unique security features.
The silver coin has a relief of Queen Elizabeth The Second on the front with her name, “5 dollars” and the year of issue inscribed. On the reverse side the silver maple leaf is etched in extreme detail and in fact it looks as if the leaf dropped onto the coin while it was molten and dried. The back side also has the words “Canada,” “9999” and “Fine Silver 1 Ounce Argent Pur” inscribed into the silver.
The Royal Canadian Mint went to extreme measures to make this coin next to impossible to counterfeit. The silver maple leaf is etched in detail for a beautiful appearance and the “empty space” of the coin is etched with radial lines. A small square is micro etched with a maple leaf and the number 14 for the year of issue. This micro mark is located on the back side of the coin and is also known as a privy mark. The number 14 can only be seen under magnification. Not only do these features serve well for their purpose of security, they also give the coin a rather unique appearance.
